The
La Belle Aurore was built in 1984 by
a man named George Purifoy, Jr. I feel a strong bond with George
in many ways. A former USAF fighter pilot who flew F-84s in
Korea to include 25 combat missions, George was determined to
"make something happen". George penned some wonderful writings about his dreams to one day sail
the Atlantic and of the construction of the La Belle Aurore. The
boat of course was never known as the La Belle to George but
rather by the name "Synthesis". Listed below are some
of George's observations that I inherited from the owner before
me.
In
The Beginning 8/22/83 An
interesting story that shares his early observations.
A
Storm, date unknown. A riveting narrative
of one mans experience alone in the teeth of a storm at sea.
Bermudian
Odyssey, date unknown This is the
story of the vessels construction, transport to the east coast
and a shakedown solo cruise form North America to the island of
Bermuda. George takes you on a journey of discovery as if he
were a child looking at a brand new world. Wonderful reading!
